Name: | never_sleepy |
---|---|
Birthdate: | Mar 12 |
Brier was rambunctious growing up; and rebellious as she got older. Her parents, desperate for a way to calm her down, gave her up to the Gingerbread House Project.
It worked; at least to an extent. She was taught that her name was Briar Rose; and that she was cursed to fall asleep, until she learned to control it.
Though "Briar" had no visible villain in her life, sleep itself quickly became the enemy; at random intervals she would fall into slumber, staying that ways for days and waking up starving. She rebelled against it, same as anything - and fell asleep anyway.
Eventually, her personality began to calm under their tutelage, and she began to take control of her "curse," focusing anger and will power inward in order turn it to her advantage.
Powers: Her primary power is the ability to "share" her curse. She can grow thorns on her body, turning them into low powered projectiles - each thorn poisoned with her curse, a single prick is enough to make someone sleep for at least an hour. (She's had some success at lowering or increasing the strength, but never less than one, or more than eight.)
The sleep is restorative, useful both for helping allies, and decommissioning enemies. Though it may be possible to overdose someone with them, she has never really tested the theory.
Secondary power: Staying awake; "Briar" can stay awake for days on end, so long as she is willing to pay a price with later sleep; the longest she's managed to last is two weeks - after which she slept for four days. (There seems to be a basic formula of seven hours per day she skips.)
When not actively skipping sleep, she seems capable of functioning on much lower amounts of sleep, with light or no penalties.
Personality: Following her tutelage, Brier's personality dramatically changed; far from rebellious, she tends to be the mothering sort - worrying over everyone amongst her allies, and even about potential enemies. She's not afraid to use her powers to make sure they rest properly, either.
On the other hand, she can be extremely protective, losing her temper quickly at any threats to her charges, and rapidly neutralizing any perceived threats.
For her own sake, Brier is generally described as "Preppy." She likes to talk, and likes to move. Deep down, she's afraid of sitting still, and slipping back into sleep.
After GHP:
With the gingerbread house project finished, she went home to her parents; though pleased with her shifts, they were extremely worried over some of her fairy tale talks, and she learned to keep it quiet - or at least hide what she was talking about - fairly quickly. She never forgot, however - to forget would mean to start sleeping again.
And, though she seems unaware of it, there is little she fears for herself more than that.
- Briar is currently 20, and single (lacking a story book prince.) Pansexual if pressed, she tends to come off as asexual instead. It's not that she's uninterested - only that she's waiting for a fairy tale. Either someone to court her, or someone for her to rescue.
Not Sleeping Beauty; no relation to Kat Dennings; this is just for fun. :)
(Mun and muse are both 18 plus.)
(Mun is male if anyone cares.)
